Vented seats not so vented anymore
Seems my seats have lost some cooling over time so that lately I can't tell the difference with them on/off. Does anyone have a diagram on how they are set up? I'm thinking maybe I can do something to fix it so the vacuum is better. I did quite a bit of searching without much luck.

Did your vented seats ever feel like they worked? I also have an 07, but you can barely tell the difference. I've sat in other makes, and you can literally feel a fan blowing on you. I asked the dealer and they said that's all it does. Past threads say the same thing; that these things are useless.

they are just fans that vent hot air from your body into the seat.
they only circulate ambient air. So if you have your windows down, it will warm air around you into the seat.
They work but you must be running the ac to really feel them. I wear a suit every day and without them in florida, I will sweat without the seat vents going with the ac. As long as they are going, I can get out of the seat and my seat pants are not warm at all. And on long trips, they will definitely keep you from getting a sweaty rear.
To check if they are working, you can actually hear the fans if you turn everything else off in the car and hit the switches

Since they do not seem to work well, I am inclined to disassemble the mechanism and see what may be done to improve on it. It's not as if I'd loose any function. I'll see if the dealer can provide me with a parts schematic for the seats. Maybe a larger fan. Who knows.

Don't waste your time. Next to useless, these things are. Cooling? Ha! Keep you DRY on a 95* day? Not even. Keep you DRY on a 72* and cloudy day? Yep.
Oddly enough, the ones in my SL600 work a bit better. Barely.

There is a pair of fans in the seat cushion and another pair of fan in the backrest, here are the one in the backrest:
They really look tinny and weak, I'm sure we can find some killer replacement once we know the specs (size, width and voltage)

Exactly.
I also am in central FL and turn them on with the A/C. I feel they should be able to perform better and could be modded to do so.

I have no idea how hard it is to remove the back seat little more diving in Alldata will help!
I am very tempted to try, as here in San Diego vented seat are also very useful!

guys dont forget, the passenger seat is equipped with WSS, and if you remove it, it is supposed to be recalibrated. With that said, I'm not sure what would happen if you reinstalled the seat and did nothing. I've never just tried that!

funny that is exactly what the sales guy told me "useless" option - said he can sell me a car with them but you are better off saving the money.
the A/C seats on the Range Rover's are the best - on high those buggers blow ice cubes.

The timing of this thread was incredibly ironic. I was at the dealer for service yesterday (keyless door entry button not working) and I asked the service advisor to check it. Naturally, they told me they tested it, and it was working fine.
If that is the case, then everyone is right - its a worthless option. I have been an a Lexus - and I think an Acura - where the cooling was really noticeable. In my '07 e63, it does very little.
The blue lights are cool though.

I am going to remove the back fan(s) saturday and post whatever identifiable markings they have. Hopefully just replacing with a more substantial fan will improve the performance.
