Service Question

Hello. My 2010 GL just hot 18K miles. And i called the dealer, they said that the service (service C) was $650.00. I don't really want to pay the $650 if i don't have to....So if i'd service it somewhere else, would my warranty get voided?

Thanks!

Short answer - No. Just save receipt of your service.

Also, can anyone tell me...what does C Service consist of exactly? I've been told that it is a oil change, tire rotation, wiper change, cabin filter and a overall inspection. Please let me know if I'm missing anything.

I will be dropping my car off at a really good mechanic. He only works on European cars. I know that he knows what needs to be done. But i myself like to be assured.

You need to forget about "service c," "service b," etc. and just go by your maintenance book that came with your car and have done what's called for at your mileage, which in your case must be 20K or 1 year since last service.

You should very much try to find an independent Mercedes specialist owned by or at least who employs Mercedes-trained mechanics and who has Mercedes computer tools. Hope that describes your friend. Chances are strong anything else will be trouble.

While independent service does not necessarily void your warranty it does at some point affect what Mercedes roadside assistance costs.

Not sure if you want to come to this side of town, but there is Auto Europe (best non-dealer option in my opinion) and Karl Heinz (supposed to be good but I have not experienced). It's a bit of a drive for you (30 minutes?) but if you don't have one close you could go walk downtown Birmingham while you wait!

Hi Troymir350! I go out to Bham quite a bit! I actually dropped my GL off this morning at V&W Imports, on Gratiot and 12 mile. Dennis And Niņo own it. Dennis specializes in Lamborghini's, BMW's and Benz's. I know he will do a good job.
Note to self: next time I buy it lease a MB, always get the prepaid maintenance.

I get the prepaid plan with mine. People can say it's not worth it, but when you residualize it and you don't have to deal with how much it's going to cost for everything they want to do I think it's worth it. Personal pref I guess.

For sure it's worth it. I sold our ML back to the dealer about a month or two ago. So I am either planning on selling the GL back and getting a GL550 and a S550 or just saving the GL and getting another ML with the sport package and Xenon's.

Troymir350, did you lease? I talked to Louis, and they have some pretty good deals on the GL right now.

And he mentioned to me that it is worth getting the pre paid service. For example, if i pull the plug on the new ML, my monthly payment would be about $10-$15 more for service. I'll have to break down the numbers and see what i want to do.....
