2011 GL550 available options

Hi all. I just got a 2011 GL550 as my firs MB vehicle.

I'm trying to find out what additional options were available for this vehicle vs what it has. I searched the forum without getting a clear answer. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thx!

Other's might know better than me, but if I remember correctly the 550's pretty much had it all. I think it was pretty much just some cosmetic stuff like illuminated door sills, wheel upgrades and trailer hitch. That and rear seat entertainment. But in terms of option packages (p1, p2) I think all were standard on the 550.

I don't think Distronic was available on the 550's until the redesign that came out with the 2013 models. The radar sensor for Distronic was built into the three pointed start on the grill and the 550's had a different and much larger star on the grille. My understanding was it was removed from all GL's in 2009 and was never available on the 550's because they didn't want to redesign the grille sensor for the 550.

Here is a summary of options and standard equipment I found for the 550. Basically what I said, everything was standard on the 550 except things like trailer hitch, roof crossbars, heated steering wheel and such.

The GL350 Bluetec and GL450 are similarly equipped with an adaptive air suspension, a sunroof, automatic headlights, roof rails, automatic wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning controls, heated eight-way power front seats, MB-Tex premium vinyl upholstery, burl walnut trim, third-row power split-folding seatbacks, the COMAND electronics interface, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker sound system with an in-dash six-CD changer and an auxiliary audio jack. The GL350 gets 20-inch wheels while the GL450 has 19s.

Selecting the Premium I package adds a power liftgate, power-folding mirrors, a rearview camera with integrated compass, upgraded front seats with memory functions, auto-dimming driver-side and interior mirrors, a hard-drive-based navigation system, voice controls, digital music storage, HD radio, an iPod interface and satellite radio. The Premium II package includes all the previous items plus keyless ignition/entry and a Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system.

The Full Leather Seating package adds leather upholstery, "comfort headrests" and ambient interior lighting. The Lighting package adds LED daytime running lights and adaptive bi-xenon headlights with washers. Parking sensors, running boards, ventilated and massaging front seats, and tri-zone climate control are also optional.

All of the above equipment comes standard on the GL550. To those items the 550 adds 21-inch wheels, performance tires and a more aggressive-looking front fascia. Stand-alone options available on all GL-Class models include a blind-spot warning system, a trailer hitch, roof crossbars, a wood-and-leather steering wheel, a heated steering wheel, a rear-seat entertainment system and heated rear seats.

Cool!

Thanks for the thorough reply man!! I really appreciate it!

It seems I have all the options other than heated steering wheel (mine's wood).

I also saw that some have led lit running boards but I guess that's custom order/dealer installed. Trying to get a discounted quote from the dealer to install. Let's see how that goes...

I just got mine too on 11/2/13, 2011 GL550, have rear heated seats and illuminated door sills (cool), no rear entertainment though. What did you pay? I paid $51,385 with 41k miles.

GL options...

In NY also -- Long Island...

I say go for the illuminated running boards if you can get a deal done...I just purchased a 2011 450 with most options...the lit up running boards one of my favorite. Purchased 2011 Steel Grey with 16K miles from Southampton. They were good to work with...
