Auto-Lights Inoperative
Received the "Auto-Lights Inoperative" message after having an alternator fail.
Local indy shop says it is probably the module on the windshield as it is showing "no-communications" per their Star system.
How much is that module? Anyone know the proper name or part number?
EDIT:
Found the module 1648203085
About $155 to $200
Can't seem to find any instructions on replacing it.
Some people say it is bonded to the windshield, other say not.

The fix!
It was the module.
Got one off eBay for $50.
A little tricky to install if you don't know the secret.

Well done.
I am getting the same message for my E300 W212. Can anyone help me with part number so I can also find the right part and replace it. Thanks

It is attached to the windshield under the cover behind the mirror.
Carefully take the cover off, and you should find a sticker with the part number.
I don't know about the W212, but the W/X164 releases from the windshield by pressing in two small rectangular slides. (see post #3)
