panorama roof

How far is the sunroof suppose to open ? Today is the first time I open my 2012 GLK sunroof, but the glass stop about 4 inches from the edge of the front opening...
Is it suppose to open all the way for the front opening ? Also how high is it suppose to tilt open ? (it only tilt up about 1 inch ??)
Thank you for any help !!

I do know that when you push the sunroof button back - it should be with some helf in your fingers for both the sunshade & then the sunroof to move.

I was quite surprised the first time I did it, it didn't do anything & had to add some ooomp to my push.

In my 2011 the button is the same as the side windows. Push it a little and the window stops if you let the button go, push it further and it moves all the way automatically. It only opens up far enough to clear the roof.

I am equally sure that the manual explains all of the functions. If you follow the instructions and it still only partially opens, go see your dealer.

So, the glass should clear the roof opening completely ? My glass stop about 4 inches from the end and block the opening !!

I'll be darned. Just checked mine and it does stop with about 4 inches still showing. Never noticed it before. Must be the way it is.

Stanley doesn't lie. Here is the real deal.
The full opening for sunlight and wind is 13 1/2" front to rear. Measured from the leading edge of the opening in the roof to the front edge of of the glass. Clear as mud? Measure for yourself. The tilt up open is maybe an inch. I can stick my fingers through with wiggle room.

Associating the 4 inches mentioned with the 4 ones in the procedure "Resetting the panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel and the roller sunblinds", do I wonder if it's worth giving that one a try?

Note 2012 GLK Operator's Manual, page #87: http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...-GLK-Class.pdf.

I knew I had seen it: When the car's battery has been disconnected (or 12V power supply in any other way -), three items has to be reset - among them the "Panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel".

Note page #260 of the manual referred to.

Actually, the 4" that they are talking about is the part of the sliding glass panel visible from inside the car when the panel is fully opened. Measure the opening from front to rear and I will tell you if it is correct.
