tailights leak causing short and fire

07 ML63 AMG

Has anyone ever heard or experienced water leaking through tailights and rear vent boxes?
My ML completely shut down on the freeway and a fire broke out in rear door, window motor shorted and melted the assy. Not a lot works now rear hatch, door locks etc.
My rear trunk compartment was filled with water from the rain including all important electrical was submerged.
Online I found evidence of recalls for this my local Mercedes dealer knows nothing about it and shows no recall for it.

What is your location? What year is your ML?

Canadian dealers will not aknowledge the real tailgate recall. At least I know this for +09 models.

The recall was for the tailights seals.
I may need new computer as well as all electrical is wet and the fire in my rear door the list goes on.

Yup I think you're right. Mercedes Canada is doing an investigation at the moment so will see where that goes.

I have a 2008 and the rear lights leaked. Over $2K in damage and that was with me doing most of the work and getting parts off Ebay.
