Thanks for that advice. I did not know brake force would make a difference, cannot remember the manual telling that. I'll certainly try if I'll learn to master it too, would make it so much easier to avoid engine stopping when not wanted and allowing it to stop when wanted.

The manual did NOT tell me, I simply noticed that when I braked slowly to a stop, that the motor did not stop.
Then if, when stopped, I pushed on the brake pedal harder, the engine did stop.

It's a neat trick but you will deprive yourself from using a cool feature that is called HOLD
Regardless of any car brand turning on / off this ECO feature should be under the command of the driver .I see no point of why MB in latest models deleted this button on the console

To the best of my knowledge, every Mercedes with ECO Start/Stop has a button on the dash or console to disable it. There are no plans for them to remove the button any time soon.

I wish it were that simple. If I could simply pay more to have some things the way I want them, I would treasure the opportunity. $500.00 to permanently disable ECO? Yeah. $10,000.00 to get a W222 without the frigging Panorama Roof? You bet! $2,500.00 to be able to order the car with conventional tires and a full size spare, concealed under the trunk floor? Where do I sign up? Actually, I'd probably go $5,000.00 for that one.
It's not always a matter of money. Many times, we just have no choice in the matter, beyond switching brands and I really don't want to do that, but MB is pushing me in that direction. Oh well.

That's not the point. The point I was trying to make, is that pretty much, no matter what, we CAN'T have any of those things. No matter how much we might be willing to pay, MB won't even allow us the option of deciding for ourselves how we would like our cars equipped. Oh well.

we're not blaming MB right? they're merely conforming to the standard set by our lovely government right?

Press S on S/E button to left of mouse. Negates eco, and starts are in 1st as opposed to 2nd.

Well, that's nice, but installing something that changes the way the engine operates is not something I would want to do. The next time I have pretty much ANY issue with the engine, an aftermarket gizmo installed is like a "Get Out of Jail Free" card for the dealer. The dealer will blame anything and everything on the aftermarket equipment. Now, if the dealer would install your product, I would do it right now, but I don't see that happening.

I totally understand your concern, but to be clear, we aren't changing anything about how the engine operates. In fact, our Eco Off™ module is effectively the same as the user manually pressing the Eco button. Our module is just pressing the button for you.

Since I always use the Sport setting, ECO is disabled anyway. If you could keep the setting in Sport (as it used to in the old days) I'd buy it right away!

I always thought it was that way and no choice but get used to manually turn it off every time getting in.
Had MBs and R.Rovers only for a quite long time, got something different lately, Audi S8 Plus and found the same thing.
First time driving it, pushed the button to turn it off but now, 3k miles and over a month later, it is still off without me ever touching it again.
So simple, driver can decide when to use it........

I thought BMW did this right. They have a button underneath the Start/Stop engine button. Wether you press ECO On/Off, that settings stays permanent unless changed. Your choice.

MB now has moved ECO start/stop into the Comand settings where you can choose the setting.

I had the Mid-City Eco Off installed today. It works perfectly. I felt a little guilty explaining to the installer that I am too lazy to push a button every time I get in the car

Can you make a module to keep the car in Sport+ at all times? This I would buy for the GTS....

Mercedes Eco Mode Fix

If you live in Atlanta, there is a shop that installs a $499 module to default the eco mode to off. Price includes module and installation. They require a $175 deposit and their mechanic only does the installation on Saturdays. Their number is 678 983-3267

A car
So just to confirm, there is still no way to permanently disable this?

Even if I set this to 'off' in individual mode, I still have to choose this every time I get in the car?!

There is no “Mercedes-Benz” way. There are third party solutions, but there is no way I would allow a non-factory authorized dealer to modify the electronics in my car, especially while it is under factory warranty. For me, it’s depress the brake pedal, hit the start button, hit the ECO button, toggle to the “Curve” setting, select the gear................and away we FINALLY go!
