Quite amazed really at the length and a commonly discussed issue with little in the way of a FREE answer .

Two free ones .

Disconnect the main battery connector to the negative terminal
( this goes stop 'HOLD' from working ) or

pull the auxiliary battery fuse .

I'd have to go back in to see if there is a parameter to enable the Engineering Menu.
My dealer does need a special passcode to enable the Engineering Menu, they need input from MB HQ for this.

I wasn't able to do this myself without help from a friend who had the seed key generator. Anyway, mine now remembers my last setting, so if I turn it Off, it says Off until I enable it again - a much better option.
What would your friend charge to do this on a car via teamviewer?

as I wright - you can order this:

but be in touch before your order. You are to send your vin to this guy - codding for W222 restyle and before restyle is absolutelly different. Work perfect. I made official servise after that and it was no any question from dealer as for guarantee. I really forgot about that crasy system.

Mercedes-Benz ECO can choose the memory function, or it can be turned off for a long time.

For anyone annoyed with disabling the start / stop feature each time, you can pick up one of our OBD programmers that retains "last mode" for this feature, you can take a look at our vehicle coverages HERE. Pick one up today!
