Heated windshield question

Is this what happens when you get the option. I saw this on google and this would drive me nuts.

Yes - you get used to it quickly though.

Our 2015 Range Rover has it. This is a picture from the internet of the fine fibers in the glass.

Being my mother's car - I thought it would tick her off but she hasn't even mentioned it once. I don't even think she knows it's there - and she notices most things.

In the winter, it was superb - having the ice melt off the glass without having the chip it off.

I drove a coupe with it and did not like it...unless you need it, I wouldn't opt for it.

I have a 2016 S550 4matic Sedan with the heated windshield. There are absolutely no lines in the windshield. It is completely unnoticeable.

The attached pictures show the areas where you can put a radar detector or an EZPass or toll collection device. In the middle bottom I put the radar detector and to the left of the mirror you will see my toll collection device. This is a bit more pronounced than my 2014 S550 4matic Sedan.

Since I have only had the 2016 for 2 weeks, I cannot vouch for the effectiveness as of yet but there are no lines in the windshield except the two areas for Infra Red passthroughs.

My 2015 has the exact same heated windshield. I was told by an engineer at MB that the reason there are no lines is because there is now a new technology.

The OP of this thread is very happy that it provided value to someone else. I also went with the option and can confirm no lines on my S550

Hi -chiming in on this old thread, I tried my 2016 today and did not see the heated windshield, err, heating. Seemed no different than any other windshield in clearing ice. Is there a way to test, or does it sound like time for a trip to the dealership? Thanks!
