It is very easy and everyone can do it.
When look at the left engine compartment, u should see a vented box. There are 2 clips at the far side, pop it up an remove the box. Reach in, lift up the filter and pull out one at the time. replace with new filters. Put back the vented box and snap the clips. DONE
Here are the pics. that show the 2 clips.

Hi AsianR350 I got to the point where the cover is off just as in your picture, I have a 2006 R350 and on mine there is a plasitic bar just above the filters. It looks like it may be the damper to block off the OA if you only want to recirculate the air in the cabin. I can't see how you got them out though the top if you have that same bar. If you were able to and you have the same bar I will give it another go.

Our R350 has the bar. It was tough but I managed to do it. Inserting the 1st one wasn't terrible. But the 2nd was HARD. That bar is in the way for sure. I used force as my patience ran out and it eventually "clicked" in.

Just changed mine yesterday (thanks to this thread) and I did not see any bar. I have a 2008 R350. Getting the second filter in took a little squeezing and manhandling but I got it in. Old filters were dirty! Also, checked the drain hole while i was there and happy to see it wasn't clogged. Great shortcut and great forum. Thanks!

I have a 2007. Mine has no bar but I have a single big filter and it is impossible to remove because the filter is held in place by three slots (sides and firewall side). It is constructed so it will have to slide out of the glovebox. I could remove the existing filter from the engine compartment only by destroying it, but then I will have no way to insert the new filter into the slots from above.

I finally change the filters. I bought a charcoal filter pad that you can buy at any Home Depot. I cut it to size to fit over the new filters as a pre-filter. The charcoal pre-filter will remove odors better than the plain box filters and will extend the life of the filters. Next time a change the charcoal pre-filter it will only take 2 minutes.

Thanks to AsianR350. 2009 R350, 5 minutes and saved over $100. No bar in mine and two filters. Dealer quote was $125.26 parts and labor. Mann Filter CUK 2646-2 from Amazon.Com. $22.91 for both. Thanks again

I just did this on my 2008 R350. - no bar and two filters side by side. For me, it was easier to install the first to the right side as you're facing it. Then slide it over to the left side, now put in the second one towards the right again, but you'll squeeze and tease it in.
Skeptical at first, but it can be done. There's no way to do this without deforming the filter a little bit, but that's only as you're setting it into it's frame. Once there, just tease it back to normal shape and you're good. Took me about 10 minutes to do!

I tried removing the clips but they were solid. Do I need a screwdriver or can I snap it by hand? Should it move backward toward the cabin or toward the front of the car when being removed? Thanks

Use a screwdriver to pry toward the front of the car to remove the screen cover (pull up the seal rubber up and you can see the 2 clips)

I've had problems with the car fogging up so I guessed the cabin filter might be blocked. When I took the vented cover off, I could hear a lot of water escaping underneath. Is that right? Should there be some drain holes for it to escape naturally? Maybe they're blocked? Help!

I've read about this, it has to do with the poor drain holes in the cabin filter assembly. Here's a link the the discussion in this forum. Probably clogged drain holes. Link
Thanks.
