Oil filter cap leaking.

did an oil change, and the cap for the oil filter is still leaking. It's starting to get annoying. I can't get it any tighter, I replaced the o ring with the new one that was provided with the new filter. I have a constant dribble going on and I'm at a loss. Ideas?

These caps have the o ring on the side, which means the tightness has nothing to do with the sealing aspect. First take the cap off, clean the cap carefully with break kleen and inspect for cracks and inperfections where the o ring is sitting. Also check the oil filter housing for cracks. Install a new OEM filter o ring. We've seen this problem plenty enough ar my shop.

Are you sure you put the o-ring in the right groove? Normally, even hand tight, they seal just fine with a good o-ring on there. It's possible you've got a small crack in the plastic cap itself, try cleaning the affected area very well and seeing where exactly the oil starts coming from. It could have been over-tightened and cracked, they don't take much force to snug down and anything extra can damage them.
