Smile EIS/EZS replacement

I have been successfull replacing EIS /EZS now, here is what I have to say about it:

First, you need to buy : the KEY, the EIS, the ECU and shifter module all from the same donor car. if you get lucky enough you migh also get door tumbler and trunk (for the mechanical key to work)

second, you have to attempt this while battery disconnected.

third, you will have to resync the key in order for it to be able to control the door lock.

now, here is the catch, the kilometer won't be showing anymore at least as long as odometer and ECU agree on the same value.
The car will run roughly for a little while and should adjust.

I did that after talking with MB who said they need the car to make me a new key that I have lost. I told them that in no way I am to pay a towing just to have them make a new key.

Then the seller said, well, it will be 450$ for the key and add 100$ for home service where they need to sync the key with the car on site.

cheaper to buy the component and replace them all.

hope this will help, as I did not fin clearly if you can or not buy just EIS...

nope, I have tested that, you need key+EIS, ECU and shifter and while your there try to find two keys.

Yes you always must replace all four parts from the same donor car

I don't think that I would ever buy the four parts with only one key - but I suspect that I would be looking for a long time!

When I bought my S430, the dealer said that he only had one key. I pointed out that his photos on Craigslist showed two keys on one of the photos. I refused to take the car until he found the second key - it took him thirty minutes of searching his office to find it...

When you're buying these parts from a wrecked /junked car they almost always only come with one key

Would be pretty hard to find them with two keys

and when your key fails you screwed. cos mb will not make u a new key with other vehicle parts fitted. so you will need to replace everything again. why not just have another key made. even if u make another key at least the lock set data remains original! whether it's via a dealer or locksmith with the proper tools

Smile update

Well, if you do change your EIS/ECU and shifter keep your previous one.
So you can ever put them back to have MB refit a key, or if you sell the car give them to the new owner.

Update, you will have a SRS fault meaning that the SRS VIN does not match the EIS VIN. the SRS stilll work it just show an error on the dash but it it the only code in the SRS ECU.

This post was intended only to affirm that the car is running fine after swap.
does not mean it is the better fix. it's a fix one of many.

the other alternative is to hack the EIS and ECU and make a new key
There is lots of Youtube to show how to use ZED-FULL and car maker key and other. but the price of such device is not for a one time use, if you buy that kind of hardware better find a way to sell services that goes with it.

Actually there is a ebay page on sending the EIS with regitrtion copy and reference, to have them make one or two key, who should then work in the car.

google all that.

have my best,

well then why not order the correct key from the start. yes of course it will work swopping the parts. you can change the vin in the Srs and the light will go off too.

It was a quick work arround to replace the 4 parts (already had it stock) cheaper then MB making key.
Then I will send my EIS to have a new key written. it's good to have a spare.

As for the SRS Vin, you will need Star diagnostic tools, very expensif to change vin I guess.
I am thinking about buying a Star diagnostic tools as I plan to keep this car longuer and maybe buy another MB.
