Best place to buy replacement/used parts?

I picked up my "new to me" 05 S600 yesterday.

She needs a lot of love.... And an entire interior.... Like literally every, single, part.

Where is the base source of used/replacement parts for these cars?

I've seen some on ebay parting out one here and there, but is there a preferred vendor that parts these kids of cars/mercedes in general out on a large scale?

Or does anyone here happen to have a good complete interior? Lol

Thanks!

Looking forward to diving into the deep end with this car head first :-)

And if anyone was wondering what the towing capacity of the ml500 is, it's an s600. Haha

Well, I'd say your best bet may be to look for one that has been in an accident and buy it outright, selling what's left when you're done. You know, insurance auction.

I've been looking, but it seems an 03+ s600 is quite hard to come across.

What year interiors are compatible with an 05?

Would an 01/02 interior still have the same options?

(heated cooled massage seats, same trimming, etc)

Are the mechanical and exterior in excellent condition? If not, it's hard to justified fixing both. I hope your interior is black as they are more readily available.
My 05 S600 has perfect interior beside a cut in rear seat and extensive wear on driver side center pillar. I went to a local upholstery shop and the quote was ~$750. The Alcantara fabric is expensive at $240 a yard they said. I ended up with a replacement rear seat on eBay and still have my eyes on a pillar. I might have to buy a new piece one of these days.

Looks like most of the 01/02 interiors are compatible... Does that sound right?

It has a misfire on cylinders 3 and 11... my husband is working on that right now.

I've been tasked with locating an interior.

It was a FL car, one owner for most of its life. Most service records, down to tire rotations, are accounted for on the carfax report. No accidents. Just interior vandalism, and a few dents that some PDR should take care of.

If I remember correctly, the 03 and up got stitches leather panels and not earlier years.

There is a huge range of interiors for the W220. Each year is different. Each model (S430, S500, S600) is different. Each model may have several different optional interiors.

If your problem is with stiff, hard seat leather, the first thing to do is to try softening it. Nivea creme works well, but only the creme that is actually from Germany. US-mad, Mexican-made, Asian-made Nivea is no the same formula, and reportedly doesn't work nearly as well.

If the problem is torn, cracked seat leather, the best choice is probably to buy just the leather, as the shipping is a fraction of the cost of shipping a seat, and the cost of the leather is a fraction of the cost of a seat. Installing the leather is surprisingly easy - the second time that you do it.

If you go to one of the major leather vendors, you can probably get a complete set of seat leathers from the same car, which eliminates some of the need to match what you have. You still need to get perforated leather is you have the fan-equipped seats, reclining rears, if you have those, etc. The best way that I found to match the style was to look closely at the photos on eBay ads - after looking at dozens of photos, you start to really see the differences.

If you find leather that is perfect except for the color, you can dye the leathers any color without too much trouble.

I have bought several leathers from an eBay vendor called DAP, out of Florida, and have been very satisfied with cost, quality and service.

I have bought leather dye from Color Plus https://colorplus.com/ and was happy with the company and the results.

Other folks have reported good results from Leatherique. http://www.leatherique.com/do_it_you...e_leather.html

The entire interior was vandalized (slashed with a knife) . Dash to door panels, to seats, console, radio, climate control, sun shades.... Everything.

Im not too concerned with minor nuances being different, as long as the basics will bolt in the same

Ouch!

Some choices:
- Buy a non-running car with a decent interior, swap the interior and anything else that you want, sell the non-runner for what you can get out of it.
- Buy a non-runner, get what you want, sell all the parts that you can here and on eBay, sell what is left for scrap.
- Find a Pull-A-Part that has a W220 and strip the interior. (This would be my first choice. Warning - If you find a W220 in a Pull-A-Part that has what you want, get everything THEN. It is amazing how quickly W220 parts disappear!)
- Buy parts as you find them from wrecking yards, this and other Forums, eBay, Craigslist, etc. Likely to be slow and expensive.

I have found an 02 s600 for parts. But I'm being told there are electronic differences?

Seems to have the same options I do, same color... But what are the differences from 02 to 05 that I should be concerned with?

They changed from a standard wire based system to a fiber optic system in 2004 and forward. I'm not sure how many components you need this would affect(like seats,) but the I would expect all the connectors to be different for the climate control, and a different nav system, at the very least.

I've had quite a bit of good luck coming up with spare parts I was after on ebay. But you have to watch it ALL the time because average prices on there are terrible, but every now and then you find an incredible deal if you are watching frequently and snap it up before anyone else sees it, lol. If you're literally needing a whole interior, I think the copart/parts car route will be your best bet. I could easily see the cost of all the parts and pieces exceeding what you paid for the car. You'd still be in it for less than what most of us paid in the first place though

Every single panel and part is slashed.
On a good note though, he's fixed the cylinder 3 misfire (plug gap) , still cylinder 11 misfire to remedy.

We were looking at a complete replacement for the head unit with a smart touch screen. So, that should solve the nav/radio compatibility issue.

I did notice the seat massage controls are on the opposite side of the seat from 02 to 05, not sure if that will affect function or not... I guess we'll find out soon enough

That breaks my heart. At least you're going to get familiar with how things come apart and go together without having to worry about damaging anything, lol.

It's done on purpose to get the insurance Company to pay out , usualky in a financed car so the owner can get out of the payment

Op your best bet is not eBay but Craigslist or copart - I see w220 with mechanical /electrical issues all the time under $1000 with mint interiors

It's a simple matter of swapping parts over . You don't need to use a s600 but you should at least find one with both heated and cooled seats and the power rear seat . The ones with only heated seats and no power rear seat will leave you missing a lot of options

You might not have things like pulse massage , but that was a gimmick anyway

Huh. Your seat massage buttons are opposite to my 2004. Seems a weird thing to change.

Oh my! Would be the works of an ex.
I saw a running 05 S600 savage title with perfect interior on eBay for $6k last month.

My 2004 has the same button layout as in her picture. I agree...weird that they would change it.

I quite enjoy it on long trips. It's not necessarily what I was expecting when I think massage seats, but I can say that I notice I don't feel as stiff/sore after a long drive when I use it. Just wish the timer didn't kick it off so quickly.
