You mean why do you need the tip that goes from a single pipe into dual tips? Because you only have single pipes. The full quad tips are for cars like the S63 and S65 that have a true header-back quad exhaust - two pipes down each side, two through the mufflers, and twin tail pipes. You'd need to buy an actual AMG exhaust for that.

Those should work. The actual tail pipe lines up with the outside tip, and the extra tip is toward the midline of the car. You won't be able to tell they aren't true duals without looking under the car. It's the only way to do it without swapping out the OEM mufflers. You may want to consider spending a couple hundred more and getting the whole axle back exhaust. Then you get the sound plus the cosmetic change, and they look like a true quad.
