Cabin Filter

Hey guys I've searched the board and have found a brief description but it doesn't seem to match. Where is the cabin filter located in an 08 s550? I see a black panel under the dash below the glove box but I was under the impression that that was where the blower motor was.

Also speaking of blower motor mine works fine but I have a little cricket noise from it and would like to oil it. Does anyone know how to get to that? Thanks!

Replace that motor now before it goes out.

Well I have seen where a few others have been able to put a couple drops of oil on the bearing to solve the issue.. it still works fine just has a little squeak here and there.. Do you know where to cabin filter is? And is the blower motor under that panel below the glove box? It seems to be only four or five screws.. so I take it it's pretty easy to replace the blower motor?

Thanks

Chris

These are the instructions that were passed on to me a while back when I asked - dunno if these are complete, so you are on your own with this - I would check with a dealer service to verify they are accurate.

Front Blower Motor Remove/install

1 Switch off ignition and withdraw transmitter Keyless Go start/stop button only for key or Keyless Go start/stop button from the vehicles with code (889)
Keyless Go.EIS [EZS] control unit
2 Remove cover below instrument panel on right
3 Expose electrical wiring harness on
housing of blower motor and
detach electrical connector
4 Remove bolts
5 Remove housing with blower motor
from air conditioner housing
6 Unscrew bolt.
7 Remove blower regulator (A32n1) from
housing and detach electrical connector
8 Install in the reverse order

Combination Filter (I think these are the Cabin Filters)
1) Remove right cover below instrument panel
2) Unlock both sliders and remove cover from air conditioner into recesses of air conditioner housing
3) Remove both combination filters downward out of air conditioner housing
4) Install in the reverse order

Thanks! On the filter part it seems two steps are the same just worded differently? I take it the filter is in the same place so removing the screws to that panel is needed for both I guess

If you do it, please post some picks, so we have a 2014 version of a DIYer for the combination filters.

You're welcome, I found it by searching on "W221 cabin filter install" and it came right up.

Does anyone know the correct airflow direction for the filters? One person things tend arrows go towards the outside but I definitely lost thrust with either new filters or backwards.. rusty old blower was stronger lol

Remove the filters and turn on AC. Place your hand or a piece of paper in the opening to determine the direction of air flow.

Yes I realize that is an option but before I opened it back up I was hoping someone here already knew, so if I did get it right I didn't have to open it up again for nothing. I figured someone here has to have changed their cabin filters.
