Check Oil message

I got a prompt at the start of a long drive this AM. A message popped up that said check oil at next gas fill up. I drove to a gas station and popped the hood and the dipstick was low. I did let it sit for a while to let the oil drain into the sump but it was clearly low. Oil change was done 8K miles ago with Mobile 1. I poured a quart of Mobile 1 in the motor and went on my way. Light never came back on and everything seems fine. Do the 2012 TT motors eat oil or should I be worried. I checked it after the last oil change and it was spot on and I have no leaks so it is going somewhere.

Every turbo motor will drink a bit of oil courtesy of turbo seals...

Monitor level and if it doesn't drink more than a quart every 3000-4000 miles you are good.

turbo engine + 8k miles since last oil change is actually pretty good
but its normal . i would change oil around 5k-6k for that biturbo motor. (what i do for myy 5.5 NA engine anyways)

why? short of because it makes you feel good- oil- related failures on that motor have been really non-existent. on the same token the 5.5 n/a motor is even tougher...

just to feel safer
and will not have a need to add another quart of oil in between changes.
(fresh oil is always better)
.... just my .02 cents )

I went 9k miles between changes with my last oil change and the oil level was still completely full. And that's with a very high temperature V12 TT motor.

When I had my E60 M5, that high revving V10 NA motor would drink a quart about every 1500 miles. it was considered completely normal with that motor. but at $15/Qt, it became a bit annoying.

Ah... the e60 m5 motor- I remember that one- good they had the oil level check handy on the dash... that thing drank more than me on Saturday evening... and that castrol oil - I remember it was fused with brain cells from politicians- therefore driving the price up big time due to th extreme rarity of said component...

You got that right!

The most discussed items on that car:

1. Oil analysis.
2. Is Royal Purple better than Castrol?
3. Rod bearings.
4. Will my warranty cover the SMG pump?
5. How long is the clutch supposed to last?

I sometimes have the same (e.g. after 300-400km drive with high-speeds 180-230kmph avg ~ 135kmph). First time I was very disappointed because in Lexus LS 400/430 oil level never changed from one oil service to next. I did some 'repairs' in MB - changed rear crankcase cap, new seals under oil cooler. Nothing changed - oil still is going somewhere. I have 1 litter of Mobile 1 5W40 in the trunk. During period of 13-15kkm I have to add around 1,5 litter of oil. No any leakage under car found. It's a Mercedes (not cheap car).
