New pics.

Got the lowered height were I want it and wheel spacers. In pics car is in Sport and at the lowest setting. It sits just below normal (low) stock height when up setting.

Getting car dyno'd next week and sending ECM & TCM out to get Stage 2 flash tune. Will post before and after Dyno runs on new thread.

Ceramic Pads 1000 mile update

Finally got 1000 miles on car after Ceramic Brake Pad Upgrade.

Changed pads only despite all the "you have to change or turn rotor opinions..."

Now seated and almost dust free and rotors shine like a mirror. (Will post pics later) Pads stop car as fast or faster than original Semi Metallic with no grinding sound.

I highly recommend this upgrade to eliminate wheels from being covered in dust after 100 miles or less. Also less wear on expensive rotors.

That car is a classic and just commands presence. Very nice, and especiallly in a very high power version.

I have wanted one of those for years. Maintenance keeps scaring me off. I can easily afford the car, but I *HATE* having to drop ludicrous amounts of money on things like the ABC system...and it's tough to find a truly comprehensive warranty on a 2006 V12 MB.

Religiously following a strict scheduled maintenance, including flushing the ABC fluids every two oil changes or at least once a year will be the best preventive measure to avoid ABC system failure. (Green color ABC fluid at all time will ensure that you keep more greens in your pocket.)

Also, when searching for one of these awesome cars make sure there are good service records, because the service records is the most important issue, even more important than low mileage when you buy this car, because it will reveal if things such as coil packs and the turbo inter-cooler water pump have been replaced/updated, or if any or all of the ABC components such as the ABC tandem pump, ABC hoses, struts, valve blocks, pulsation dampeners, ABC Accumulators etc etc... have been replaced, and if the ABC fluids have ever been flushed. The service record will help you immensely to determine if you will still need to drop ludicrous amounts of money into it or not. Just my 2 Cents after owning this awesome ride for almost 2 years. Cheers!

The real benefit for ABC longevity is to treat the service life of the flexible hoses in the engine compartment as just 5-6 years, same as they do in agricultural and industrial applications.

You can't expect flexible hydraulic hoses to last ten years. At least, MB shouldn't have expected that. They should be replaced like timing belts.

The other thing that can help is to wrap the hoses in aluminized fibre-glass heat insulation, which will protect the rubber at the crimp, where they eventually fail. The failure mechanism is perishing of the rubber under the crimp caused by high under-hood tempertures, and repeated pressure-cycling of the joint, causing a slow tensile failure under pressure. They can't be made to last forever, but you can make them last longer, and pre-empt the inevitable.

I replaced ten hoses on my 157k mile car, mostly as a precaution, and it runs great.
