wheel upgrade help please

hi guys i need help please i tried searching and doing some conversions online and im not sure if the setup im going for will work ...

i have a 2004 s55k amg with stock height and stock 18in wheels...

i wanted to upgrade to 19in these are the rims btw

http://www.ebay.com/itm/19-GUNMETAL-WHEELS-FITS-MERCEDES-BENZ-AMG-W204-C204-C300-C350-C63-COUPE-RIMS-/271930843636?vxp=mtr&hash=item3f505761f4
ok my question is can i put 245 45 19 all the around without any issues ?

the reason i want to go with 245 45 19 instead of 245 40 19 is coz the tire is alot cheaper in that size and i already have a set of brand new tires aswell ...

since i am ordering rims on ebay and cant really test them out i want to make sure before i order them otherwise i might just get them in 18in

thanks alot ..

wheel upgrade help please

What are your current tire sizes? The wheels/rims should fit fine (assuming correct offsets and clearance of brake calipers which should be easily verified / guaranteed by the wheel dealer for your specific model/year).

2006 S600
Condition: New
Rim Material: Alloy
Rim Structure: One Piece
Manufacturer Part Number: MB522-19s-5112-45GMF
Offset: 45 Rim
Width: 8.5 and 9.5
Rim Diameter: 19
Number of Bolts: 5
Hub Bore: 66.6
Bolt Pattern: 5x112
The wheels will fit fine, but the tires probably won't.
Firstly, 245/45 is the right tire for 18x8 or 18x8.5 wheels.
However, its too narrow for 9.5 wheels.
Its also too tall for 19 diameter wheels,
Therefore you really need 245/40/19 F and 275/35/19 R.

I did a lot of investigation on this last year:

https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...els-tyres.html

Since your car has ABC, I STRONGLY recommend using 275/35/19 both front and rear, and use current model asymmetric tires.

Regards, Nick

Thanks Nick ... in the winter mercedes recommends going 245 45 18 all the around which is the stocm size as the front thats why i was wondering if I could do a square setup all year long is that bad in anyway ? I know i will loose traction a bit in the rear but since this is a daily driver im trying to get the most of the tires here

Thanks

According to the data in the owners manual 245/45-18" on 8" wheels are the square setup for your car that will clear snow chains. Therefore 245/45-19" on 8" wheels should fit. Wider wheels with the 45 profile may not fit. In any event if you want to run 245's all around you need the same size wheel all around. The 9.5" wheel is too wide for a 245 section width tire on a car this heavy. For info, I have 255/40-19" tires on the front of mine and they just barely clear.

The interference limit with the front tires is with the plastic liner at full lock because of the OD of the tire. Read what Nick has done. Using the right offset wheel he can run a 275/35 on the front. That tire, while wider, has a slightly smaller OD than my 255/40. I have 285/35-19's on the rear with plenty of clearance.

Ok guys i think we have a misunderstanding here i understand the diameter of the wheel ... stock 245 45 18 od is 26.7

I want to know if i can fit 245 45 19 od is 27.7 ...

Also rear stock size is 265 40 18 od 26.3 ... again 245 45 19 od 27.7 will it fit ?

We understand the question, none of us has actually tried that combination. Based on the MB data they should fit with no interference. MB states the 26.7" tire fits and allows clearance for tire chains when mounted on 8" wide wheels with a 44mm offset. Tire chains take almost a full inch of diameter making an effective diameter of 27.6". So the car has at least that much clearance at all 4 wheels.

245 / 45 / 20 / 8.5 wide / 45mm offset all round will fit perfectly! Correction: 245 / 45 / 18 / 8.5 wide / 45mm offset will fit perfectly.

275 / 30 / 20 / 9.5 / 45mm all round fits without issues on both my cars.

However, when I went up to 265 / 35 / 20 / 9.5 / 45 all round, the diameter was too much, and they rubbed badly at the front.

Therefore there's very little latitude to increase diameter.

This direct experience is why I said 245/45/19 probably wouldn't fit.

Nick

Nick has tried many wheel/tire combinations and posted the results here. His conclusions are based on personal experience so I would go with that. Nick, in your first line above, did you mean 245/40/20/8.5?

Oops!

No, I meant to say 245/45/18/8.5.
