Thumbs up M271 engine need your help!

Hey guys, so i read a lot of horror stories about timing chain skipping time and messing up the valves on M271 engine. I recorded a video of a cold start and wanted to see if you guys think it sounds ok or not? I appreciate your input!

Engine sounds can be misleading...best way to check is to remove VC and inspect chain for slack and the sprockets too. A VC gasket is under 20 bux.

Once i take VC off, what signs should i look for? Loose chain, worn sprockets, anything else?

You can inspect for chain slack across the top guide as well as the condition of the sprockets and guides themselves. With the VC off, turn the crank bolt clockwise to inspect the chain better since sometimes the slack is not apparent at first. As a starting point, my TC looked like this when I replaced it preemptively at 122k ish miles. Mine turned out to be barely stretched about 2mm. Car sounded same before and after the replacement.
Also realize that the M271 is not exactly a silky smooth engine when it comes to the sounds it makes.
