2017 E Class - mid year revamp
To all W213 owners who's car were built on or after 12/16. You may be unaware but MB it seems are finally starting to us customers and the little things that we complain about when the W213 first came out. Firstly, they have done some mods to the cars such as, you can have your dealer mod your car so that silly e button that makes the engine stop and start the engine at traffic lights. Now you can go into the car button, press it and if you scroll down there is a choice that takes that buttons off line permanently, it isn't "greed out" so it foes function after the dealer does the mod, we yelled loud enough and MB heard.
The ashtray area in the back seat has a 12 volt outlet and a 115 volt outlet, that is if you buy Package 1, before the only thing you'd get is the 12 volt D.C. Outlet, now you also get a 12 volt outlet in the trunk, I'm not sure if you got that before. There are about a half a dozen of other improvements between the Luxury edition they're building now versus the very first production of the model they built in the first 4 to 6 months. Also, the interior of the car is much quieter than before. My MB mechanic says he believes they're putting more sound proofing materials in the doors, they had Goodyear design and build a runflat tire that is worlds quieter than what was on the first models of the Luxury edition,
again, I don't know if what I'm telling you applies to the Sport version simply because the standard wheels and tires on the Sport are either 18" or 19" tires, I'm really not sure which. In any case, the new tire is a Goodyear Eagle Sport tire, Size: 225/55R17, 97V. They're Runflat MOE All Season tires with a 560 rating, I don't know anymore than that. Finally, Tirerack does not have them and can't get them yet, they said try back in 6 to 10 months.
If any of you were disappointed as I was when the new E class came out, I think you'll be really happy with the changes they've made. Lastly, even though it's a very minor thing, you can adjust the interior lighting in many colors but if you turn the commend knob to adjust the colors this car now has a sort of dark lime green which really adds a nice touch to the car's interior at night, I was schocked but at what a nice change it made. In any case I'm sure there are other E owners who have just taken possession of their E class cars built after 01/01/2017. Good luck to all new E owners.

First, your dealer needs to mod the car to do it. If your dealer says no than let me know and I can take pictures that shows the cars ability to do it and pictures don't lie. When was your car built?

Seeing is believing!
I have attached a picture of the Command screen in the E class that shows the owners ability to turn off the auto e feature on the E class sedan.

Thank you.

But don't get too excited. Mine is permanantly set to Off but no matter what it says, the vehicle will revert back to Eco Start / Stop ON until you turn it off at the center console.

That setting can be found by menu thread: home-Vehicle-Dynamic Select-Individual Configuration-Eco Start/Stop.

Any info if this on a MB 'to do' list?
Thanks again.

I'm guessing the COMAND menu is intended for markets that have lower emissions requirements where start/stop is allowed to be switched off permanently. Perhaps it is just a configuration bug on the COMAND head unit, the menu option should appear only on those odd countries?

I don't think they need it on the "to do" list. The control units already have this configuration option ("remember the latest state of the ECO on/off button at startup"). This configuration just isn't accessible for the car owner, not even the garage with standard diagnosis tools.

Anyway what I tried to claim was that MB has the functionality built already but it is their policy to keep it out of reach of the driver.
Their to-do list should have an entry to remove that menu item from the cars where drivers are not allowed to switch off eco start/stop.
I understand this is not what many of us would prefer, assuming it came at no cost. Unfortunately there would be a significant cost included with a change in emissions figures. At least if the feature was activated on EU or the US market, it should come as an option with a big price tag (those who accept the higher emissions figures should pay for it, not fair to make all MB owners to pay for it).

I'm not sure I understood the comment. Are you criticising me or MB?

You've got your members mixed up, I(1guitar) didn't criticize you, or if I left a critique is must have been in regards to the MB new E, a good car but imo I don't think it's all that great, but to each their own.

I feel there was some misunderstanding between myself and john, likely because of my English language skills.
I admit I should not have started talking about the MB to-do-list. Does not belong to this thread. I just hate it when members assume that MB has not implemented something as if it was too difficult for them. In many cases, like here, the implementation is there, engineers have done their job but marketing has decided to keep the feature hidden from owners (the non-functioning menu is a bug from engineers though). Perhaps you can guess that my background is more on engineering than marketing.
In any case, sorry about all the off-topic at this thread, I'll stop it now.
