2004 SL500 Roadster
2004 SL500 - spare tire

Hello. Bill here.. Just got a second car.. 2004 SL500 roadster. My question is it did not have the trunk tire cover or spare tire. I am assuming last owner had a flat and left it on side of road. My have this black box that looks like a pump. Does this vehicle usually have a small spare or is this black box something that pumps air into a deflatable tire until you get to a shop? Thank you

Black rectangular box is a pump. You should also have a container of flat repair goo.
While this solution is supposed to work for nails, if your tire is shredded, or has issues beyond a slow leak, you are out of luck and need a tow.

I've purchased a MB collapsible spare tire, and kept the pump for inflation. You may want to do the same. AMG required 18" spare, SL 500 usually needs the 17" (depending on brake package installed).
