SL55 Designo?
Hi, I'm new here and need a lot of advice from you guys. I'm in the market for a white SL55 and I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-SL-Class-Base-Convertible-2-Door/400742879228?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23848%26meid%3D8360671434425629675%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D10181%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D400742879228
I'm not sure if it's a real Designo car because the seats don't have a Designo logo on them. VIN# WDBSK72F47F129961
The guy also wants 43k for this car http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/4573746699.html
What do you think?

Nice looking car. I'd quarrel with the statement of 'Garage Queen', however, as 63K miles in 7 years does NOT qualify it as a garage queen!
READ everything you can on the other Mercedes website which has a 'ABC Intelligence etc' sticky on the SL55 web page.
The ABC system is phenomenal if in good condition, and a phenomenal cost if it is not. It is my belief that cars in humid climates that have not had the ABC fluid changed every 3 years are cars with high potential for ABC failures. MB did not indicate the fluid should be changed, but since it is hygroscopic like brake fluid, it SHOULD be changed. Green fluid is good, black fluid is BAD.
Good luck with your pursuit.

Damn, that is for sure a pretty car. I'm confused by one thing though, it says "UPGRADED AMG SPORT PACKAGE". How do you upgrade an SL55 with an AMG Sport Package. It either is or not? Hopefully someone can enlighten me.

The odd thing is, this car has been for sale either continuously or intermittently for a year. The pics are identical (locale). Also previously...I had been looking into this car, it was listen on numerous sites and numerous different price points.
Check the VIN # which if you Yahoo or Google should reveal numerous posts.
I'd be suspicious...
Here's one for example...
http://inventory.carlotz.com/web/veh...otos/13898729/
$33,999
It's an absolutely beautiful car and I cannot believe how they managed to keep the interior so pristine...
Nice crack in the front bumper though....

SL 55 and a GT 3000 vr4 Here's my car: http://home.online.no/~ludvs/index.cfm
About designo elements in the merc
Here's a link to 500sec.com, that's about the different designo elements in our cars.
http://500sec.com/designo/
On page 3 it says:
Unusual designo paints and specially textured, richly coloured designo leather and designo trim parts are available, in a variety of different materials and colours depending on the different model series.
Mercedes-Benz quality is a matter of course for all items in the designo range. The full grain designo leather is even softer to the touch than the normal excellent-quality Mercedes-Benz leather. A choice of up to 16 rich shades are available, with double-stitched seams in colours which vary depending on the model.
I remember when i was scouring mobile.de for my car in 2009, i only saw very few with that emblem on the seat.
The one I do remember quite well was a beautiful black sl 55 with jaguar creme colored leather covering the entire cabin.
It was a 30 000 euro option.
But the price was too high so i had to let it go....
