Crazy gearchange
Every now and then my 65 fails to kick down, but now it's refusing to
change UP!
I was driving quickly home when I noticed it was stuck on 5000 rpm , I eased off and it changed. Then I put my foot down and again it stuck in
3rd up to 5500 rpm, then again in 4th until I took it to the red line before
it changed. Any body had this problem.

I think, but am not certain that we share the 722.6 tranny. Maybe someone else can confirm. If so, the 722.6 is robust as hell, but is known to have conductor plate issues at some point.
You will not need a new tranny if this is the issue and likely is.

Not too hard to DIY
Are you skilled enough to drop your pan on the trans? It is only another dozen bolts to remove the conductor plate with the pan off. Parts about $1-200.
Change the filter, gasket, and electrical bushing while you are there. Fill it back up with trans fluid and buy a dipstick. Done.
Or, have a local independent do the same for a few hundred more.
Google "722.6 conductor plate DIY" and see what you find. Common issue for trans found in a lot of MB models.

Thanks guys, great video and advice. It does look easy, but it might not
be the fault. Any body know how much MB would charge.

Will your dealer pull codes for you? If it is a sticky speed sensor in the conductor plate, I would think it would throw a code. The stealer I used to go to in Indianapolis would pull codes and quote repairs based on the codes. If I did not want to do the work, they would charge me a $65 diagnosis fee sometimes. Often, they did it for nothing. I did have a pretty good relationship with my SA. the crisp hundies I would give him after a big repair under warranty paid dividends.

All 65s and also the 55s have a Speed-Shift pattern stored in the TCU.
If you make some full speed accelerations after another or when you drive with very high revs into spirited corners, the tranny will notice that and will not upshift like normal. The tranny stays in higher revs. If you release the throttle then it will upshift like before after some seconds and the normal shift pattern is there again...
Maybe you have noticed this Speed-Shift feature which is normal on every AMG.

No, you cant erase this shift pattern. It helps to keep the car in sporty mode when you drive very spirited corners and avoid upshift. My car does this also in auto mode when I hammer the gas a few times hard. I think it works quite well when you will not let upshift the car.
