Turn signal problem
Whenever I try to activate the left or right turn signal on my 2000 slk230, the light just comes on solid and does not blink. WHat can be done to fix this?
Thanks

FYI, the oxidation inhibitor isn't required, but it might help keep problems from recurring. It just a grease that keeps the conductors from oxidizing and also helps prevent electrical arcing. You can buy little tubes of it in the electrical department of any hardware store.

Turn signal Problem
maninblack is half-right. It probably means there is an open somewhere (not a short). I had this problem on my '02 SLK32 and it turned out to be a loose connector on the signal lamp right next to the passenger side headlamp. I pulled it off, cleaned it up a bit, put a little oxidation inhibitor on it, and put it back on. I did the same to all of the other lamp connectors I could reach. That fixed it and I haven't had a problem since.

I have traced this prob to the Combination Module, inside this box is a few relays and I found by giving the module a whack with the screwdriver handle it would work fine for a wee while. Once I could see which relay was the one in that circuit, I gently cleaned the contacts and its been fine for a few days.
Take care with this module as it also controls the roof and interior light delay and probably much more. To replace the module costs arount 2,700 NZ Dollars so Im not ready to do that yet.
Cheers

CLK 430, SLK 230
I talked to a MB mechanic today about this problem and he said he would bet it's a bad hazard switch (the actual red triangular switch in the dash), as it's a common fault in MBs and he replaces 100s of them each year.
