1998 SLK230 Spring compressor
Can I use another coil spring compressor other than the genuine Mercedes BM-924-0231?
I'm looking to replace my rear shocks among other service work on my suspension but I can ill afford to spend $700 cdn for the tool.
Can use any other spring compressor?

Yes you can rent spring compressors, at parts stores, or you can also buy a decent spring compressors cheap at harbor freight.
I have a HF spring compressor for many years it works fine.
You only have to compress the spring to the point where it can be removed, it does not have to be completely compressed.
Rent one at an auto part store then see if it will fit into the space.
