2015 M3 Vs E55
What are your thoughts on this? Will it be faster than the 2003-2006 E55? Curb weight is around 3700 lbs while E55 is around 4200.
M3 HP/TQ - 425 / 400
E55 HP/TQ - 500 / 516
The M3 is like 500 lbs lighter. Can someone please explain to me why an E55 would beat the m3.
Also same question for the 2014 Lexus IS-F
IS-F HP/TQ = 416/371
Weight: 3800 lbs
Thank you.

Doesn't matter what the numbers and weight is... The 1/4 mile numbers are out there... Guys running low 12's stock possibly very high 11's stock 2015 m3
Can your stock e55 do that?
And with the margins being so close, the '55 if I recall correctly is a mid 12's car... It's all about who hooks up first ... The m3 has shorter gears and more of them ... M3 wins with each having good drivers
The m3 LOSES all day long regardless because it sounds like my toro lawnmower
My neighbor thought I had the new m3 cuz he heard a lawn mower and he came out and saw me mowin the lawn and realized I didn't have the new m3...

"Kills" and "beats 5 out of 10 races by a car length" are two different concepts to me. Since both these cars trap over 100mph, the m3 is the statistical winner in this race based on the magazines.
However since they are closely matched over 1/4 mile, it comes down to driver and traction... And so long as each driver keeps the pedal to the ground the automatic trans does the rest

Guys for a second lets keep car magazine stats out of the picture and maybe give us some personal experience. As in you raced those cars with ur 2003+ e55 and the outcomes.

The IS-F isn't much more potent than the good old C55.
In the case of the M3, The E55 is still has that extra torque and keeps up pretty well for an 11 year older car with about 600lbs extra weight.

However, if the M3 is equipped with the dct 'box, It's a high 11 second weapon.

I don't race often ... Got three car seats in the back of the '63 so you can understand, but there's not much out there that it can't outrun. The 4 wheel drive keeps me alive sometimes!
Get some mods for that e55 and destroy those m3's, your 55 is a sweet ride

Your e55 was my dream car for the longest time, it's still always going to be a champ, and for the $24k you spent it's a steal if it doesn't destroy you in maintenance/problems

The new M3 should be faster than E55... Our E55 is 12 years old design. The new M3TT is also very mod friendly compare to the E55K. It should compare the new C63TT. M3/M4 is about $65K !!!

With just a downpipe and tune the M3/4 should make another 80-100hp at the crank. These are an extremely mod friendly cars. The Achilles heel of the E55 is its 5 speed auto box - the M3/4 has a 6 speed DCT. Stock vs stock with good drivers, I am very sad to say that I think the M3/4 takes it. I loved racing the 2013 V8 M3's because I would walk them in 2nd gear and put a bus length between us in 3rd. Those days are over.

If I had the money, I would have done both years ago. Just maintaining my car eats all my 'pulley & tune' savings.
I always had an advantage over the outgoing E92 because I live at an altitude of 5750ft which cripples the N/A cars. With the new F80/82 running twin turbo's the playing field is more level.
The only way to find out is to race one.
