My New E55
Hi Guys!
Not new to this forum as I have had a few Mercedes in the past but new to this section. Picked up an 05 E55 AMG last week and love it so far! My first AMG car and quite impressed. Has about 79K miles on it and I bought it from a Mercedes dealer. Pano roof and design black/merlot interior.
I do have one question for you guys. I paid a bit more than I would have if I bought it privately since it was a dealer. Now I just realized that the wheels on the car are actually reps and not real AMG. I talked to the salesman and he said the usual "manager isn't in I'll see what he says". So my question is should I make a stink about it or should I just take the hit and try and find some used ones? Should a Mercedes USED dealer be selling with the proper rims? I didn't even think of looking since it was a dealer I assumed it was all original. Used sets go for about $2000 cdn up here so it will be a significant hit. And the sales manager already gave me the whole "I'm making nothing on this car at this price" BS so he said he wouldn't even throw in the aux battery which I had no problem with since just $150. But $2000 is a different story
Here are a few pics. I was going to take some good ones once it was detailed and I picked it up but when I went to get it there was confusion and it wasn't detailed or anything and took them 1.5 hrs just to take my money!

Congrats on the new purchase! I too just recently purchased a 2004 E55. From my past experience, when you purchase a used car, usually it is in "as is" condition unless they specifically state that in writing. So unless the dealer specifically stated that the wheels are OEM AMG wheels, I don't think they are going to help out. That being said, it does not hurt asking. The dealer may give you something else instead for the misunderstanding. Good Luck.

It's not really there issue. Used cars are used cars.
However, if you walk into the sales tower and tell them to unwind the deal and give you your trade keys back with a very serious attitude they *might* do it. If you bought it on a Friday the paperwork won't even be processed and the banks/government won't know you bought the car until Tues-Thursday depending on the speed of the accounting office. They can easily shred the deal pack.
We have had to do it many times for various reasons.

Ya weather has been great here since Feb! And the car is really clean that's why I bought it and paid the extra. Don't think I would have found such a good one privately. No dents at all and very minimal amounts of chips or imperfections. Interior is pretty much perfect. Definitely could pass as a lower mileage car than it is.
Ya I was wondering about the whole as is for dealers. I've bought a lot of used cars privately before and if this was the case I wouldn't even have mentioned it. Just thought maybe the dealers would have a bit more responsibility. If I had known they were reps I probably would have offered a grand lower. Oh well I guess I have to chalk this up to being more vigilant even at dealers!

Ill see if they do something in good faith. They have tons of used cars even non AMG there with factory AMG wheels. So its weird they wouldn't have put a set on this car.

If you looked at a stock e55 you should have noticed the replica wheels on this one... They don't look anything like the stock (ugly) e55 wheels. With that said, the car looks leaps n bounds better with those wheels on the car. Ide consider that an upgrade. Also looks like the car sits lower than stock. It's nice.

I have the same type of s65 style reps. They are 19". 9" up frontwith spacers, 9.5" in rear 255s up front 275s in rear I think they look better than the stock wheel and are lighter than the factory 18" as long as they look good be happy with them.

I wish mine were. The 18" look small. Oh well I guess they will make good winter wheels!

They are selling the car with the wheels it came with when it arrived to them, most likely. Nowhere is the dealer required to give you OEM AMG wheels on a used car, as used cars are sold AS IS.

Thanks guys ya I don't think these tires will last long anyway the way I drive it! So these will be my winter rims now. One of my other cars is a Porsche 911 Turbo with 660HP kit on it. So although this isn't as fast or exciting it is great fun when I turn traction control off (which is most of the time!) I guess this one is getting all the abuse because the Porsche is all wheel so can't do the same stuff in it.
I've been looking around and the more I see the more I like these wheels. I'm considering finding a set of genuine AMG 19's. That or Vossens. They seem to be the only ones that appeal to me. Usually I go for BBS but I don't think they have anything that suits this car.
