For the front headlight it's easier to buy the conversion units instead of a new SAM. Try carsystems.com.ua
here is the direct link: http://carsystems.com.ua/mb-products-en/mercedes-led-adaptive-headlight-controller-w212-en
they sell it for around 500usd

We went for the new SAM and did dosens of changes in wiring such as radiator fan, heating, dashbiard etc...
Therefore we believe it will be relatively easier to go with your current SAM and add the headlight control units from Carsystems.
We have second ongoing project with w218 amg CLS63. We want to convert 2012 model to newer facelift model. No one has done it so far and seems much harder.

13 E63 S212 AMG mit MPP, P30. Drove : 89 R107, 05 320 CDI
100% in agreement..! Once I heard the term 'catfish' to refer to it, I was convinced to buy a '13 AMG E63 (S212) instead of the '14 I was comparing it to. The classic look with the race car underneath. A well tailored suit, with a devil in it, that looks lie any bone stock classic MB of the past fifty or so years (except for SLs and the like, plus trucks and the like).
Truly great stealth, providing locomotion that, if done well, is very fast and never looks ruffled.
The post-facelift, is not bad looking. In fact, it is attractively aggressive, however, I think it will age more quickly. It is a bit fad-ish, almost like the fins on the '59 Caddy that is held up as an example of Detroit's styling excesses of the post WWII era.
Over time, I think the pre-facelift 212 will age better.
JMHO tho...

If you live somewhere in the CIS region go to Ukraine Carsystems.com.ua buy Mercedes LED Adaptive Headlight Controller for W212, wire up the headlights and go to local mb dealer for coding. This is an easier option. they have dealers all around the world: http://carsystems.com.ua/dealers-en
Buying a new SAM will need huge re-wiring work and you will not get everything work properly.
Alternatively you can apply to your local MB dealership but there is so much work that MB dealers always try to avoid doing that kind of job done.

The best way is to do things correct and mount a new SAM instead of all these "half" options.
Not really so much wirings need to be changed - but off course you need to know what your doing.
I did a lot now, I think maybe some of the first ones ever made - and the only way to get all the options for the headlamps to work like IHC plus is to mount the new SAM.
Also if you want the Rear to work fully with the adaptive rear light you must mount a new SAM at the rear.
I did at the same time the FULL inside facelift with instrument cluster, dash, doors, BI Colour ambient light etc.

Really there is no need to wire anything for fans etc.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
and I know this has been asked before.. but I have to ask again (sorry)
THIS conversion was CHEAPER than buying a new 2014 model? (meaning, in your part of the world, it's cost prohibitive to purchase a 2014 versus converting the pre-14 into a '14)
???

Please understand that the US enjoys the cheapest luxury cars in the world. Many other parts of the world can be 100-300% more expensive for the same car over there due to taxes. Changing an older style car to a newer style with all OEM parts is conservatively (estimating higher price than what is likely) $20,000. If trading a pre facelift to facelift will still require the party to spend an additional $100,000 to make that happen then it'd be much cheaper to do the facelift. On top of that, in many countries they make these facelift kits with knockoff parts for much cheaper and labor is cheaper as well. I know many friends who do E-Class and S-Class prefacelift to facelift conversions in Asia for under $10,000.

Where do you live? If you live in Europe go to Elicar (http://www.elicar.de/) or Mercel they are the ones who specialize in conversions. If you have a new sam they will charge you something like 1500 Euros for wiring and coding. Depending on what work you have done.

- The (to 95%) same wiring has to be done in both solutions, whether with the SAM or with the adaptive control unit. Your pre-facelift wiring in all cases cannot be the same as in the facelift, since the new LED headlights are fully controlled by the control units. The only difference between the two wirings is that you exploit the CAN-BUS with the controller.
- "Wire up and go to MB" is the same like go to a lake and throw stones in it. It will even cost you less and guaranteed make more fun. MB dealerships have neither the knowledge how to do it nor the understanding of this issue at all. Again: MB is not officially facelifting cars! Dealerships are not MB masterminds, they only exist to repair and to sell. They are (usually) not schooled to do harder works like this. However if you are lucky here and there might be a real professional who can help you.
- Further MB dealers cannot flash the firmware of your SAM. (I am not sure at this point if Online SCN can do it, but I know they are not using Vediamo. This is not an official diagnostics tool!)
- The control unit is not "an easier option", it is only a different one. You have to do the same wiring and nearly the same amount of programming. This solution only helps you getting all the other options of your vehicle to run "easier" (but actually I cannot fully sign this). It is however a fundamental knowledge necessary if you want to go on with this kind of W212 conversion (SAM unit replacement includes the same necessity of knowledge).
- "They have dealers all around the world" - this is something that could help, yes!
@ Chris - there will be no step by step instruction. On the one hand people are earning money with this know-how, on the other hand you cannot generalize this conversion (many options). You can only search for professional help locally.

Well. We at MBCSA got a newly developed module now where all works inc high beam assist. No SAM needed. Wires and prgraming needed. I will do a write up on it as soon as my 2011 E500 Cabrio arrives.. You only need bumper, lights and grill and they are cheap these Days so this should all be able to be done for about $2000.

retrofit w246 xenon ils fur neu Led (facelift model w246)
I saw that some people from this forum have some experience of doing restyle
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-co...-facelift.html
Some of them were successful some not. But at the end it is possible.
Browsing Internet I have found several companies who is making conversions of E63
1) SGA Exclusive

They are showing real results of their conversions

It looks they are doing from start to the end.
2) Second team is Mercteil (http://www.mercteil.com/en)
But they are only selling kits:
http://www.mercteil.com/en/products/...-facelift-2013
I started to work with them and ordered a kit. They are really good in that, they clearly understand what you need for conversion according to your car VIN-number and give you full list of equipment, BUT THEY ARE NOT DOING CONVERSION AT THE MOMENT - ONLY SELLING KITS. They also do not provide you with installation instruction for headlights (only for taillights).
The electrical problems of connecting and programming SAM is the biggest problem of this conversion!!!!

Well, we have a wider understanding of what has to be done. We also dealt with quite a few conversions already. But unfortunately there is no instruction possible. For the mechanical installation I suppose there is no greater instruction needed. Any workshop should be able to paint, assemble and install the bumper/trim parts.
The only complicated thing is the front headlight conversion, which requires more efforts. First of all you need to rewire the connectors since there are no purchasable wires for the FL headlights. There is an instruction for that but actually this is the easiest part and an electrician should be able to do it. After you rewired and mounted the headlights you now need to code them which is the ost complicated thing. The old pre-facaelift acquistion module (SAM) cannot convert the signals and make the headlights work. Thus you have two ways to deal with it:
1. You purchase the newer SAM module which leads to a complete recoding/programming of the facelift module. If you go to any common workshop or even a dealership they will have no idea what to do (mostly). Thus you need a professional workshop with an understanding of MB vehicles, VEDIAMO, XENTRY coding and options triggering. There cannot be any instruction for that since every model is different, the coding is individual and potentially could lead to any kind of errors if done wrongly. Nobody who sells parts will ever take responsibility for that. However the conversion is not as hard as it seems to be if people know what they do. It does not even take a full day of work.
2. To avoid the SAM module exchange you can purchase a CAN-BUS control unit / exploit which converts the newer signals and makes it possible to keep the old SAM. But it does not make the conversion any easier from that point of view. You still need the same understanding and the same skills. It just makes it easier to deal with upcoming errors since the SAM is still the old one. The amount of coding and programming is approximately the same. Again this is a custom modification, nobody would ever take responsibility for that. There is no How-To guide possible since every model will show different errors and requires different coding. Every workshop has its own understanding of coding.
If you want to install the parts without taking any kind of higher risk you have to search for a professional workshop which either has already done this kind of a conversion or at least has a full understanding of MB vehicles in the first place. People who hear the words VEDIAMO, XENTRY or CODING for the first time will not be able to do this kind of conversion.
