Painted Brakes
Would you ever paint your brakes red if you had a non P AMG??? I have seen this done and think to myself why would anyone do this? If they didn't opt for it then leave silver or get some upgraded brakes...To me its like putting an AMG badge on a non AMG car...

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
I would never feel comfortable making my car something it wasn't ... Like fake badging or unique changes to replicate the image of a more expensive car

According to the AMG Performance Studio website, MB will paint your calipers any color you want -- for a fee of something like 4600 Euros.
Talk about highway robbery.

Yes anything that involves individualization at Mercedes is ridiculously expensive. I really wanted the mystic blue paint which is available on the CLS and SLK. The proposed charge for that was $9600 for a freaking paint job, BMW only charges about $5000 for an individual paint color and I Believe Porsche is also much less for that. That's why I went with the lunar blue even though it was definitely not my first choice color.

Porsche is $5500 for special order paint on a two door, and $9900 for a four door.
Plus $2900 if you want them paint the exterior trim and panels that should have been, but aren't painted and are just black(on the Panamera).
Bespoke goods aren't cheap. No matter what the product is. You gotta pay to play.

Since the red calipers are absolutely identical (in every way) to the silver/gray calipers, I would have no problem with someone painting them red (or any other color). The only major brake(s) hardware difference between PP and non-PP cars is the fact that the PP cars have composite rotors.
Personally, I enjoy having the silver-painted calipers as red calipers are everywhere. Regardless of brand, most performance-oriented cars come with red calipers. BMW has changed it up a bit though - the M3 and M5 come standard with blue calipers (and the CCB option comes with gold calipers).

Agree 100%...guys this is still a AMG car at a msrp of $100k. If a fellow AMGer wants to paint the caliper red, blue or gold that's great. Also for those like me that plan on changing everything especially the tune it doesn't make sense to spend $8000 for the PP and then another $3000 for a tune, another $2500 better limited slip on top of that price.
My 2 cents!

Which tune are you planning on getting?

But to echo the other comments... the calipers are the same unless you've opted for the rare and pricey ceramics. So who cares? It's not like you are posing, do you what you like.
