Mercedes-AMG C63S Coupe Desperately Needs New Driver
Sleeping at the tree is a guaranteed way to lose, even if you are driving a beastly Mercedes-AMG Edition 1.
Special edition cars from Mercedes-AMG are obviously nothing new. But there’s something truly unique and appealing about each one. This includes the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Edition 1 coupe, a car that packs more style than most anything else on the road today. Take an already attractive car, throw on a matte grey paint job and some yellow accents, and you’ve got something that simply looks fast.
Despite that, however, the Mercedes-AMG Edition 1 packs the same 503 hp/516 lb-ft twin-turbo V8 as its non-Edition 1 brethren. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a highly capable machine. This is still a car that’ll scoot to 60 mph in in the mid 3-second range – otherwise known as supercar territory. Of course, none of that matters if you aren’t capable of cutting a good light, as we clearly see in this video from YouTuber Gumbal.
This Mercedes-AMG C63 S Edition 1 certainly looks the part, and it sounds equally menacing. But the driver is clearly asleep at the wheel on just about every run. In his first race against an Audi wagon, seconds elapse before he decides to join the race. One that he should have handily won, of course. He then gets tree’d by a Porsche 991 GT3 RS in another race that should have at least been semi-close.
The Mercedes-AMG gets a second go against the Porsche, which produces a better but still disappointing result. Perhaps our M-B driver is just afraid he’s going to break something? Maybe the car is still being broken-in. Either way, it just makes us want to hop behind the wheel and show him how it’s done.
Sure, it’s always nice to see a cool car like the Edition 1 actually being used at the track. But next time, we want to see this thing in the winner’s circle – at least once.
