Yahoo Finance believes the 2020 AMG SUV proves itself worthy for the lone warrior searching for their destiny.

Few things are as fun as playing “pick the car” with a bunch of enthusiasts. What if you could only have one car? What is the best sports car in the world? And during these uncertain times, what would be the best vehicle to brave the coming apocalypse with? Getting everyone to fight for their favorites while ever stretching the rules of engagement is a delight. It’s why we loved that in a recent review for Yahoo Finance, the case is made that the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen might be the best car for self-isolation during the pandemic. The particular model in question is the mighty AMG G 63 variant.

A solid choice to be sure. You have a twin-turbo V8 that dumps out nearly 600 horsepower, and enough leather and comfort features to embarrass some yachts we’ve seen. If you have to lock yourself in a car to live in during a pandemic, you would be hard pressed to find something nicer. But in the spirit of debate, how well would the G-Wagen hold up if you pushed the stakes a little further? We think the G 63 is so good that it could be the perfect car to take into a Mad Max-level apocalypse.

First, of course, there is that incredible engine. Because it makes more than 600 lb-ft of torque at just 2500 RPM, you can drag or move basically anything on planet earth. Need to drag a flipped suburban off the interstate to clear the path? Just hook up a chain and punch the gas. That extra low grunt is also helpful when the roads stop. Thanks to its proper ladder frame and trio of locking diffs, the G 63 is a proper mountain goat when the terrain gets rough, and the big power just makes crawling up the trail even easier. We also can’t forget about the speed. With a 0-60 sprint of just 4.5 seconds, you can outrun any mostly-naked outlaw trying to chase you down in a battered muscle car.

Even the interior is useful in the end-times. Of course having a comfortable throne to coddle you at the end of a hard day spent fighting mutants and zombies is nice. But don’t forget you could strip out the extra seats and use the leather for making clothing, traps, or reinforcing a shelter. If you are good with a soldering iron, you could repurpose seat heaters and airbags into cooking devices and defensive weapons.

So yes, the Mercedes AMG G 63 is a perfect partner for keeping you safe and comfortable during a time of self-isolation. It’s also the world’s greatest apocalypse wagon, and if you disagree we can sit down with a pint and hash out that argument later.
