The AMG GT will Still Sound Great
Many have been worried about the newest Benz sports car, the AMG GT. With the company pretty much turbocharging everything in the office, including the chairs, everyone was worried that the turbos would make the raucous normally aspirated engine noises a thing of the past due to the exhaust gases needing to go through the turbos instead of just going straight out.
Now Mercedes has released a teaser trailer for the new sports car with all of the engine noises we’ve been hoping hadn’t been lost. Take a listen.
It’s a bit quieter than the previous 6.2L engines that inhabited most of the AMG lineup, but you definitely hear the AMG signature noise coming through. In the age of Formula 1 cars sounding like psychotic vacuum cleaners, it’s good to hear noise still being made out of big, powerful engines. Hopefully as turbocharging gets more commonplace among manufacturers, those noises will improve. If not, we always have the option of cutting off the mufflers, right?
