Brabus Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 Adds New Aero Bits for More Range and Style
It may not have more power, but the Brabus Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 does offer up an improvement in range to go with its updated looks.
Brabus has made a name for itself by churning out some amazing tuned and stylized ICE-powered luxury machines over the years, many of which are based on vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. However, it’s now looking ahead to the era of electrification, wisely, given the fact that we’re certainly headed in that direction. Though EVs may not be quite as exciting to traditional enthusiasts, there are certainly enhancements that can be made – and the new Brabus Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is perfect proof of that.
As is typically the case, the Brabus Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 looks a bit different than its stock counterpart thanks to the addition of a host of carbon fiber bits and pieces, including the front facia inserts, a front spoiler, air deflectors, a rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler. From there, the tuner took all the chrome off of the exterior and gave it a black finish to amp up the class a bit.
Rolling on a set of 22-inch Brabus Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” forged wheels, the EV sedan is equipped with the company’s SportXtra suspension module, meaning the ride height can be adjusted by up to 15 millimeters up front and 20 millimeters in the rear. Of course, the interior couldn’t be left alone either, and has instead been treated to Brabus’ complete Masterpiece interior package with Arrow Wave quilting, charcoal tanned leather, ambient lighting, and a material called Dinamica – a tri-layer microfiber produced using recycled polyester without organic solvents.
While it obviously can’t make any performance upgrades to the car’s powertrain, Brabus does note that the car’s exterior enhancements improve the EQS’s aerodynamics by 7.2 percent, which translates to a 7 percent improvement in range, at least at speeds between 62-87 miles-per-hour.
Regardless, propelled by a pair of electric motors, the Brabus Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 already has plenty of juice, with a combined rating of up to 751 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque, helping it reach 60 in just 3.4 seconds. Those that want the style, comfort, and range improvements offered by this Brabus model will have to shell out quite a bit more cash than the stock example, because the car pictured here is listed for a whopping €251,654 ($276,271).
