Buying Tips for the W123 Mercedes 240D Diesel

When you get to know the owner of a used car, you get to trust it just a little bit more. The owner of this car is Kent from Mercedessource, a knowledgeable guy and thorough Mercedes mechanic and aficionado. He really enjoys these older Mercedes, as you can tell by the way he describes this 240D in the video below. It’s his very own, which he has had for a number of years. It is also quite clean and relatively free of rust and corrosion. And it’s for sale.

A 4-speed car like this one is a little less common to come by, and the simple way this one is equipped was quite appealing to Kent. He likes that it has crank windows, no sun roof, and other relatively basic equipment. The engine, he says, starts and runs stronger than the mileage suggests. This indicates at some point that it has possibly had an engine replacement. Faults are here and there, but don’t amount to anything major. To sweeten the deal, he will even include a different final-drive gear. The 4-speed is great, but the shorter gearing means it is quite buzzy on the highway. A lower ratio final-drive gear addresses that and gives it better fuel mileage too. Interested?
