Mercedes S550 Wreck Sculpture Made From Mirrors
We seldomĀ talk about art or sculptures here on MBWorld, but this creation made from mirrors is way too cool to keep to ourselves.
Ever see a car design which your eyes simply pour over, discovering new details every time you look at it? Well this certainly is one of those instances for us. Designed by Jordan Griska, this S550 was made entirely of small sections of stainless steel. Although, it is so highly polished, that you’d completely mistake it for being small pieces of mirror. With most pieces being smaller than a square inch, the work going into this sculpture is insurmountable.
The piece of art was meant to create a contrast between the simplicity of material used, and the complete chaos involved in a car crash. It’s a virtue to the way something seen as so prestigious, such as an S-class, can be completely altered in a matter of moments. Griska, based out of Brooklyn, NY, took inspiration from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s contrast between luxury and circumstances of misfortune.
In terms of art, we’re curious of what other Mercedes art sculptures might be comparable to this. It doesn’t have to represent a wreck, but we know there’s a lot of Mercedes artwork out there. If you want to post your favorite painting, sculpture, photography or other works, we’d love to see them!
