Modified Car Horn Makes Your Mercedes-Benz More Polite In Traffic

By -

Car horns have an inherently rude sound, but this device softens the abrasiveness.

Not all of us operate a car like a Brooklyn cab driver, meaning we have a horn that isn’t worn out. Cautious use of that noise maker means we’re being as nice as we can be behind the wheel. In the instance where we need to use a horn to get someone’s attention though, we’ll exercise patience and caution. In those cases, we don’t need much more than a simple blip of the horn to make our presence known. There’s no need to let out a big blurt of sound, and one little gadget is here to change the way our horn is used.

Fitted as a button — rather than in the steering wheel — means this little button will make your horn chirp, instead of sound off like a siren. You’d use it for when you don’t need to lay on the horn like an angry Italian. As a benefit, your regular horn remains unchanged for use in emergencies.

Think of the chirp button as a way of saying “hey, heads up,” instead of “look where you’re going, dummy!” As we see it, city dwellers would be pleased with such a device, keeping noise pollution down. Then again, if someone’s really not paying attention, you’ll be able to wake them up best if you’re in a 600 Grosser.

Would this chirp button be something you’d fit to your car?
