Southern California has been home to this 1971 280SE from the day it was sold, and it serves as a perfect location for this gorgeous drop-top. Ownership was shared between just two owners, both of whom enjoyed the 3.5 V8, with the unique fluid coupling 4-speed gearbox. With just over 11,000 produced with this engine, it is proving to be quite rare and valuable.

As with any car from Canepa, this 1971 280SE is in stunning condition throughout. Careful attention was paid to ensuring everything was as close to original condition as possible. Leather was matched to that from the OEM car, and all of the trim and bright-work has been re-chromed to bring it back to new condition. The intensity of the re-conditioning covered more than just leather and chrome; interior wood panels were refreshed, and even the gauges were restored.

Canepa claims over 800 man-hours were put into the reviving of this car, with an investment of over $125,000 on top of that. All of that will likely be returned, as they currently have one of the finest examples currently for sale.
