Have you ever had enough free time on your hands that you plunged into the mesmerizing world of manufacturer specifications, body dimensions, capacities, and other fun facts and numbers?

If not, a handful of MBWorld forum members have that kind of spare time and passion, and have done some interesting research regarding the E-Class and C-Class Coupes. Upon careful examination, the Mercedes Benz C-Class Coupe is actually wider than the E-Class Coupe (W207), and nearly identical in length too.

The C-Class measures 184.5 inches in length, while the E-class measures a nearly equal 185 inches. When it comes to vehicle width, the C-Class clocks in at 61 inches and the E-Class at 60.8 inches. Sure, the differences may be subtle, but you have to go back and think of the already established hierarchy that exists between these two.

The E-Class (in theory) should always be bigger. After all, it’s the mid-size Mercedes. But due to platform sharing decisions in Stuttgart, the outgoing E-Class coupe was actually built on a C-Class chassis for the remainder of the model’s lifecycle. Now that the new-generation E-Class has arrived, everything will get reshuffled and the E-Class coupe will most likely get a new chassis and things will go back to “normal.” Whatever that means.

Until then, the E-Class Coupe is actually a C-Class. Sort of.
