End of the Road for SLS

According to people inside Mercedes-Benz, they will be debuting a special edition at the LA Auto Show in just over a week prophetically named  “Final Edition.” So it seems that the SLS is going away after just four brief years. Sorry to ruin your day.

Perhaps even sadder is that the SLS’ powerplant, the magical M159 naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, designed and built for AMGs, is also being mothballed. We can look forward to smaller displacements and larger/more turbos for AMG. The baby SLS we’ve all been speculating about seems to be taking over and not slotting between the SLS and SL as long predicted. Oh and the gullwings? They’re going away too. Although we’ve come to the end of the road, still I can’t let go. It’s unnatural, you belong to me. I belong to you.
