Lime-green G-Wagen from Delta4x4 includes an one-inch body lift, 23-inch tires, is only one example of what they offer for Benzes.

Way back before Hollywood latched onto it, the G-Wagen was originally a product meant to help mobilize European militaries to the front in the event of another war breaking out on the continent. Its amazing off-road capabilities were not only part of making the G-Wagen a capable soldier and public servant, but also a godsend to Mercedes fans who wanted something to use against Jeep and everyone else in the battle over overland supremacy.

German tuner Delta4x4 knows what all the G-Wagen can do. According to Motor1, the company has taken their off-road tuning knowledge and applied it to the classic Mercedes off-roader as the latest entry in their growing catalog.

Once Delta4x4 gets its hands on a customer’s G-Wagen, like the lime-green example above, they go to work to amp up the Benz’s off-road capabilities. They lift the body an inch higher than stock, fit 23-inch off-road tires around a set of custom off-road wheels, widen the track for greater stability anywhere the SUV goes, and pop on a crash bar to protect the customer’s investment from rougher terrains.

Delta4x4’s catalog for the G-Wagen includes a range of 12 wheel selections, all of which can wear the company’s own Loder AT#1 tires, plus off-road and driving lights from PIAA. They also work their magic on the X-Class, Vito, and Sprinter, as well as the AMG G63 and G Klassik.

Pricing for upgrading your G-Wagen ranges from around $140 for tire sensors to $1,415 for a 1.5-inch lift kit. Whether you’ll have to ship off your off-road Benz across the ocean for the upgrades is another matter. Those in Europe and Australia will have no trouble obtaining the right pieces from Delta4x4 through the company’s importer network, while everyone else will have to hope they can order the pieces and have them shipped to their mailbox.
