2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen Is No Slouch Off-Road

Luxury and style dominate new off-road G-Wagen.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an example of a car with a bit of an identity crisis. Sporting an exterior design that looks like an off-roading beast combined with the opulence and style of a beautiful luxury car, drivers are unsure just what to do with the vehicle. Should you treat it like a luxury vehicle with a six-figure price tag? Or do you take advantage of it’s off-roading capabilities? There’s no wrong answer. Though as you’re about to see, it would really be shameful to limit the 2019 G-Wagen to paved roads.

We recently found a random YouTube video that shows just how much fun it is to take this luxury SUV off the city streets and into the rougher terrain. Long story short, the new G-Class isn’t afraid of getting a bit dirty. Driving through rocky trails, mud pits, and up mountains are no problem for this SUV. Granted, there are some limits to the G-Wagen’s capabilities, however, this is an SUV that can stand toe-to-toe next to some of the biggest names in off-roading.

But make no mistake: As the video cuts to the interior of the vehicle, the G-Wagen isn’t some Jeep Wrangler. While Jeep and other SUV makers make capable off-roading vehicles, they really can’t compete with the G-Wagen’s luxury. The technology demonstrated on the dash of the G-Class is beautiful. With camera’s at all angles and 4-wheel drive options at the push of a button, the 2019 model is a great showcase of what a refined off-roading SUV should look like on the interior.

The second half of the video is shot after shot of drool-worthy clips of every angle of the 2019 G-Class. From the wheels to the air vents inside, you’ll want to jump through your screen to see it all in person.

So, for those that are going to purchase this pricey SUV, this video is a reminder to not just limit the vehicle to the boring suburban streets. Take this G-Class where it belongs—off-road.
