Environmentally focused cars has never really been a major selling point for Mercedes, but that might soon change. The first hydrogen powered Mercedes have finally arrived in the United States, making it one of two (the other is Honda’s FCX Clarity) hydrogen powered cars available for lease in the US.

About 70 or so drivers in Los Angeles and San Francisco will be given the opportunity to lease the cars before it’s official release in 2014. The small numbers reflect the bigger problem of fueling stations around the country. Many of them are located in California, making wide spread adoption a difficult prospect.

Still, those lucky few will get a solid 90 mpg highway and the smug satisfaction of knowing the only emission coming from your tailpipe is water.
