2019 Mercedes-AMG 4-Door Coupe

Limited-edition GT 63S Edition 1 flagship comes with aero package, 21-inch wheels, and an appetite for cash.

Mercedes-AMG always brings the firepower to Stuttgart’s latest and greatest, from the E63 wagons, to the SL65 cabriolets. And now, Affalterbach has a new weapon of road destruction for those who loved the AMG GT, but needed more room and two extra doors: the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.

According to Motor 1, Germany (of course) will be the first European country to receive their allotment of the four-door supercar when they start arriving in showrooms this fall. At the start, only the GT 63 and GT 63S will be available, though one version will leave your wallet lighter than a Lotus Evora.

If you’ve got the cash, a GT 63 will set you back around $175,000, while the GT 63S can be had for about $20,000 more. However, there will be a limited-edition GT 63 available for exactly 12 months: the GT 63 S EDITION 1. This version can be had in Germany for the oddly specific price of 185,342 euros (around $216,150). The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EDITION 1 has 21-inch wheels, an aero package, and tons of styling tweaks to make this version of the GT 63 S stand above the others (atop its throne of colorful bucks).

The GT 63S EDITION 1 also packs a punch to your soul, thanks to its four-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the regular GT 63 and GT 63S. The GT 63S version of the V8 delivers 630 horses and 627 lb-ft of torque to all corners (or just the rear in Drift Mode) through the nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic. Thus, it and the EDITION 1 will knock out a zero-to-60 run in around three seconds, and hitting the (figurative) wall at 195 mph. But at least you’ll be comfortable experiencing the madness, as the interior is as wonderful as that of the CLS.

As for fans in the United States, it’ll be awhile before they’ll be able to make it rain on the hood of the newest AMG GT: the 63 and 63S will arrive in early 2019.
