The AMG GT nameplate grows with 4-Door Coupe model joining the fray.

Verging on the edge of hatchback-ism, the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is, obviously, a four-door “coupe” that draws directly on its lineage with the gorgeous AMG GT super car. However, the design looks rather familiar to our eyes, and the eyes of large, premium vehicle shoppers. Can you spot the similarities between the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, and the liftback Audi RS7? Or, perhaps, it’s other closest rival: the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. We can’t unsee it.

That said, let’s dig into what this latest model from Mercedes-AMG actually is. Here is what Mercedes-AMG has to say about it:

“As another vehicle developed autonomously by Mercedes-AMG, it combines unique design, high comfort and outstanding sports car engineering with an athletic, four-door fastback layout. This means that it offers more space and even greater versatility. It thus offers more space and more potential uses. The systematic expansion of the AMG GT family with the 4-Door Coupe opens up the sports car segment to those looking for a vehicle for day-to-day use, but who are unwilling to go without the unparalleled performance of Mercedes-AMG.”

Mercedes-AMG is adamant that the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will offer its owners supreme day-to-day comfort and practicality, while also working a ridiculously fast and capable sports car.

With a top speed of up to 195 mph, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe ensures superior performance in any situation. Powerful, up-to-date in-line 6-cylinder and V8 engines with outputs ranging from 429 hp to 630 hp allow completely new driving experiences and combine impressive performance with modern efficiency. This all sounds pretty promising to us.
