Mercedes-AMG GT-C Roadster Looks Fantastic

The Mercedes-AMG GT-C Roadster gets reviewed by some of its biggest fans.

You’ve probably seen the way new high-end car models have been received in the past. It can be hard to separate the real from the hype. YouTube journalism has helped alleviate this issue by allowing amateur reviewers to get their thoughts about new models out, nearly as quickly as the old-guard pros.

Two of these civic journalists for the automotive world are Everyday Reviews and PistonHeads. Both outfits got their hands on the newest flavor of the Mercedes GT to hit pavement, the convertible GT-C. And they both had positive things to say about one of the hottest GT variants ever, as you can see in these videos.

The GT stick-figure family

The GT-C sits one tier below the all-mighty GT-R — unless you count the upcoming GT3 racer. It sits above the GT-S and base GT. And it’s already more potent than any car most folks will ever own.

Why the 32 flavors approach from Mercedes-AMG? Take a look at the number of specs Porsche offers the 911 in, and you have your answer. The C has been groomed to do battle with the 911 Turbo, and, as the PistonHeads video below confirms, it even lines up quite well on paper to challenge the uprated Turbo S.

Yes, but how does it drive?

Power has never been an issue for AMG’s V8 cars. So to make the leap from GT to genuine sporting car, AMG has sharpened up the handling of the GT-S, C and R. All reports say it has worked, and that’s impressive, since the 911 has set such a high bar in this segment.

So there’s only question left: where did the C come from? Sure, there are all sorts of S and R cars out there, and typically, those letters carry a performance connotation. To be honest, we believed the C variant would be the slow one. We were wrong.
