Mercedes Announces C63 AMG Edition 507

I see this car as a reflection of AMG’s tuning prowess. Over the years, they’ve been melded in to Mercedes as a builder of big engines and huge amounts of power. This car doesn’t do anything to change that (thank God), but it does illustrate what kind gains they can get when they pay attention to the details. AMG has managed to wring an additional 56 hp from the C63’s 6.2 liter V8 while keeping it naturally aspirated. Not only is that impressive, but it also places the 507 just below the Black Series in terms of performance.

Modifications from the C63 AMG include forged pistons, a lightweight crankshaft, new connecting rods and a remapped ECU. It’s also got upgraded brakes, and new 19-inch alloys. Notably, Mercedes has also poked two holes into the hood for additional airflow. I suspect they’re also there to let people know that this isn’t your run-of-the-mill C-Class.
