Mercedes Launches Order Tracker for European Customers

By -

‘Mercedes Me’ program allows buyers to follow their build in real time. We hope it comes to America very soon.

Few things drive new-car buyers crazier than anticipation. After the thrill of purchasing a new Mercedes-Benz, the intervening wait generates that new-car slump. Now, Mercedes has created an interactive tool to keep tabs on your new build… if you’re a German customer.

Mercedes Me Order Tracker

The “Mercedes Me” app now allows customers to follow the production of their new build at the factory. After the order is sent, the customer can log into their personal Mercedes Me account using the order number. That allows them to track their new ride’s journey through production planning, body shop, paint, assembly, quality control, and even the delivery planning.

German customers can already use this feature on vehicles built at two factories, Sindelfingen and Kecskemét. Those produce the CLS, E-Class, S-Class, A-Class, B-Class, and GLA at the moment. Mercedes will add the Bremen facility (C-Class, E-Class, GLC, and SL) soon.

While this only applies to German customers at the moment, SUVs built in the U.S. will fall under this category in late 2017. Why the rollout if Mercedes won’t include customers in the United States? There’s already a case study to show that Americans love this kind of service: the Chevrolet Corvette.

Why isn’t it in the U.S. yet?

Since 2010, Corvette buyers have been able to track the assembly of their iconic sports car with ease. Not only that, but Chevy will also let Corvette buyers assemble their own engines (with lots of supervision, for a fee) and pick up their car at the Bowling Green assembly plant.

Hardly a day passes where you don’t see a Corvette Forum member eagerly discussing how many days until the Bowling Green facility churns out their C7. Chevy even has a rolling, 1,000-page thread on Corvette Forum interacting with Corvette owners over their order.

Would you track your order if Mercedes offered Mercedes Me in the U.S.?
Talk about it on the forums
.

Now, Mercedes and C7 Corvette owners tend to differ a bit, but we know they both enjoy a large community of enthusiasts for their respective brands. While we know Mercedes needs to take care of their domestic market, why not launch it shortly thereafter for all American buyers? Inquiring owners want to know.

We’re certain that stateside MBWorld members would gladly interact with Mercedes Me production monitoring right now if they could.
