What’s Next for the C63 AMG?
And in these simple, but truly powerful terms, that’s exactly what the C-Class is looking to do. For a long while, the C63 AMG, with its axe-murderer-insane V8, has stood alone as Mercedes’ first and only line of defense against the BMW M3. Over the years as Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and even Lexus, have raised the stakes across the board to offer 400 horsepower, compact sports cars in both four and two-door variants. The next generation of C-Class should offer something a little different.
A couple things we know about the 2015 C-Class:
- The car is larger to make room for it’s baby bro, the CLA.
- Styling cues pull strongly MB’s flagship S-Class.
- Christian Bokich of Mercedes-Benz USA has confirmed to Autoblog that a coupe would be on the way.
- Engine is rumored to be a 4.0L, twin-turbo V8 with ~480 hp.
Autocar.co.uk has spotted test mules and is reporting the specualation of a convertible, in addition to the sedan, coupe, and wagon variants we’ve seen.
Truly a more diversified portfolio with higher value. Maybe it’s not too far fetched that the Mercedes-Benz execs have been getting marketing advice from The Wu.
