Pristine 1988 560SL Roadster Is our Featured car of the Month!
Husband and wife thoroughly enjoy their absolutely beautiful Mercedes-Benz R107, and have meticulously maintained it over the years.
Mercedes-Benz has cultivated a rich history in many segments. But their most celebrated models just might be their coupes and convertibles. As vehicles designed for individuality, two door coupes generally radiate a special vibe. That’s especially true as they age into classics. The R107 is perhaps the best example of how a Mercedes-Benz ages gracefully. And today’s featured car of the month represents the best of the best.
MBWorld community member Rewillia, aka Rick and Lydia Williams, earned the spotlight for owning a drop-dead gorgeous 1988 560SL Roadster. It is abundantly clear that the couple are the best kind of classic car owners. They understand the ethos that cars are meant to be driven. Our Car of the Month couldn’t have gone to better people.
Rick and Lydia are based out of Lake Charles, Louisiana. It’s there that they’ve maintained their Mercedes-Benz enthusiasm, in the form of several vehicles. Their 1988 560SL Roadster has both hard and soft tops. And it’s quite the veteran too, with 155k miles on the odometer. Fortunately, the couple has meticulously maintained the convertible over the years. They also own a 2019 E4504S wagon.
Here’s an extensive list of what they’ve done to the car:
Mechanically sound, current mileage at 155k, Powertrain and all OEM installed features including HVAC, fully operational.
Documented, Year on Year maintenance history includes regular service intervals using only genuine MB parts. Transmission was rebuilt at 140k miles along with additional preventative maintenance including timing chain guides & valve stem oil-seal replacements, as well as a detailed, comprehensive general health checkup, i.e. new hoses, belts, filters, sub-frame rubbers, brakes, etc.. Original soft top replaced, interior restored/reupholstered all using only genuine MB replacement leather, fabrics, carpets, etc..
Additionally, they’ve chromed the factory alloy rims and upgraded the audio system. Other than that, the car is completely stock. Rick and Lydia intend for the car to be something of a family heirloom and are planning to give the convertible to their four year old grandson when he gets older. We think Rick and Lydia are excellent grandparents who deserve nothing but kudos for their lovely R107. Rewillia’s signature reads “Finding the roads that await us!” Those are truly words to live by.
