Rare and Tasteful C36 AMG is Our Ride of the Month

With just over 1,000 sold in the U.S., this tastefully-modified C36 AMG is truly one of a kind.

Each moth, we ask MB World members to submit their ride for our “Ride of the Month” competition. December’s winner has us California dreaming, and wishing for sunroof weather.

One of our members, C36AMG13 of Upland, California, has a rare car that we’re glad to see in such excellent shape. It’s a 1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG. It’s been nicely preserved with some very tasteful—and very choice—modifications.

The car is pretty much stock from the outside, with the addition of some HIDs, as well as rolled fenders to accommodate the C36’s lowered stance. He also added some power folding side mirrors from a W210. Don’t mess with perfection. C36AMG13 certainly learned his lesson here.

Currently, the car is riding on mildly cut AMG springs with Bilstein Sport shocks. Megan Racing rear control arms help to perfect the car’s alignment despite the lowered stance.

Rolling stock consists of refinished 18 x 9-inch AMG two-piece monoblock wheels all around. Out back, you’ll find 30-millimeter spacers; up front, 5-millimeter spacers do the trick to get the fitment just right.

The C36’s brakes were upgraded as well. The calipers were painted silver, now fed by braided stainless steel brake lines at all four corners. Carbon ceramic pads clamp down on slotted brake rotors to complete the braking upgrades.

Inside the car, you’ll find a 9-inch Android-based head unit with a back up camera and a TV tuner. Stock speakers were upgraded with MB Quart items, and a pair of 8-inch Soundstream subwoofers mounted in Bazooka Tubes.

It doesn’t take much to get a C36 AMG to “Ride of the Month” status. After all, they’re tremendously rare. With just over 1,000 coming to America between 1995 and 1997, even seeing one is an incredible sight. However, we think you’ll agree that this car’s impressive condition, as well as its tasteful modifications, certainly propel it above and beyond.

Congratulations to C36AMG13 for winning MB World Ride of the Month honors. If you’d like to see your car featured here in the front page, join our forums and submit your ride for next month’s competition!
